Kayla and Garrett are a wonderful couple from Colorado who chose to have their wedding on September 30th, 2017 at Palmetto Bluff, a luxury resort and community here on the South Carolina coast. Kayla shared some information on why they chose Palmetto Bluff and their wedding style: “Our wedding took place at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina. Garrett’s family has owned a home in South Carolina for years and we immediately fell in the love with the charm of the gas lanterns and soft breezes. Time slows down there. We knew that we wanted to share this magical place with our family and friends."
Their wedding weekend started with a fabulous rehearsal dinner with guests arriving at Moreland Landing in restored vintage buses from Lowcountry Valet. Guests were treated to an evening of oysters, low country favorites such as low country boil, fried chicken and fried green tomatoes, along with custom cocktails to kick off an exciting weekend ahead of them. The following day, preparations for the bride and the groom took place in two separate cottages on the Palmetto Bluff property. The ladies of Karisma Salon did a wonderful job creating looks for Kayla and her bridesmaids. Kayla’s bridesmaids could barely hold back the tears as she revealed her fun and unique Hailey Paige wedding dress to them.
Kayla and Garrett’s wedding ceremony took place in the chapel overlooking the pristine May River and was the romantic setting perfect for this beautiful ceremony. The cocktail reception space took place in the quaint Village Square, where guests enjoyed cocktails from The Little Brown Wagon, a renovated teardrop camper made out of used bourbon barrels and converted into a portable bar, along with passed hors d'oeuvres under branches of ancient oak trees draped in Spanish moss. As an homage to our bride and groom’s love of baseball, guests were encouraged to sign a real 3rd base that was used at the Colorado Rockies game that our bride and groom’s engagement took place.
Guests were then escorted to the River House, just across the Square, to enjoy an elegant reception in the luxurious Oak Room ballroom and oversized verandas featuring hanging lights and floral decor. Each wood farm table was graced with elegant linens in colors of white, gold, a multitude of candles and stunning branch arrangements in glass vases adorned with hanging votive candles. Kayla and Garrett took to the dance floor for their first dance to the song “This Must be the Place” by the Lumineers. After a series of emotional toasts and the cutting of the cake, that was created by the team from Palmetto Bluff that had a special touch on the top, a replica of their puppy holding a sign that said “I Do Too” from BabyCake Toppers”. Our bride, groom and guests continued to enjoy an evening a lot of dancing thanks to the stylings of the Michel Johns Band along with cocktails and desserts.
